Dear Colleague
Consultation on the New Kent Policing Model
I would like to thank very much those of you who were able to respond to our recent consultation on the impact of the new Kent Policing Model on policing in your community.
Your views are extremely valuable to us in designing your police service of the future within the resources available to us.
We were very encouraged and appreciative of the high response rate and the generally positive feedback we received, but equally we were provided with some important messages from you for our future priorities.
I know that some of you found the timescale for responding very short and we will certainly bear this in mind for the future. We were, however, anxious to get preliminary feedback as early as possible, so that we can use this to help the continued development of the new model.
If you have any comments that you wish to make which it was not possible to return within the original timescale, please let us have these anyway. As ever, the Authority welcomes your feedback at all times, on any matter to do with the policing service that our communities in the county received from the force.
Thank you again for your interest in the work of the Kent Police Authority.
Kind regards

Dear Co-ordinator
New Kent Policing Model (nKPM)
As you are no doubt aware, the police service as a whole is going through a period of unprecedented change and Kent Police has to deliver savings of around £50 million over four years. In order to achieve these savings and continue to deliver a high class service to communities in Kent and Medway, the Kent policing model has been redesigned. Since November 2011, Kent Police has been structured into three divisions and at the heart of the new model is neighbourhood policing.
Nearly five months have passed since the introduction of the nKPM and the Police Authority is keen to find out how this is working in practice. We will be contacting partners across the county to seek their views and comments, including Neighbourhood Watch, Parish Councils, Local Authorities and Community Safety Partnerships. To that end, I would be grateful if you could spare a few minutes to complete the attached questionnaire and return it to the above address by email to kpa.pa@kent.pnn.police.uk. The deadline for responses is Friday, 30 March 2012. Alternatively, you can use this link http://tiny.cc/qvbg2b to access the questionnaire on the Kent Police Authority’s website.
Your time is much appreciated and we are grateful for any comments or reflections you may have on the new Kent Policing Model.
Yours sincerely
Mrs Ann Barnes
Chair of the Kent Police Authority
